Medications at Camp Monroe
Bringing Medications to Camp
COMPLETE THESE STEPS BEFORE CAMP
- Update Medical Information in each camper’s account no later than 7 days before the camp start date. Update medications, allergies, and health history.
- All Medications must be entered before arrival. Log into your account HERE. If you have submitted your camper’s health form and a new medication needs to be added, please call (910)276-1654 or email Office@MonroeCamp.org to have our Camp Staff update your camper’s medical form. Once a form has been submitted, it cannot be accessed by the family again without the Camp Office approving the changes.
- Follow the “Packing Medications” instructions that follow.
FIRST DAY OF CAMP
- Camp Check-in: Give a Ziploc bag containing the completed medication list and labeled medication containers to the Camp Nurse. Allow time to stop by the Camp Nurse’s table to leave medications.
DURING CAMP
- Make every effort to be reachable by phone in case of an emergency or if your child gets sick.
LAST DAY OF CAMP
- Camp Pick-up: Unused camper medications are returned during pick-up.
Medication Guidelines
Please send only the amount of medication needed for the entire week or the duration required. Any unused medications or empty containers left at camp will be disposed of on the following Tuesday after dismissal.
All medications must be checked in with the Camp Nurse. Campers are not allowed to keep any medications, including prescription, over-the-counter, vitamins, essential oils, or homeopathic remedies, in their luggage.
If a medication needs to be readily accessible (e.g., inhalers or epi-pens), please request special clearance from the Camp Nurse. Once approved, the medication will be kept with the summer staffer assigned to your camper’s group. For safety reasons, campers are not permitted to carry medications with them.
Prescription Medications
Must be unexpired, in the original container with a pharmacy label showing the camper’s name, prescribing doctor’s name, and directions for use. Do not use medication organizers.
Over-the-Counter Medications
Must be unexpired, in the original container, and clearly labeled with the camper’s FIRST and LAST name.
Essential Oils and Homeopathics
Must be unexpired, in the original container, and clearly labeled with the camper’s FIRST and LAST name. Note that camp nurses do not dispense these items. Campers are responsible for their personal use and will be supervised by the Camp Nurse.
