GRUMPY OLD MEN (GOM)

We are a group of about a dozen volunteers from various churches and denominations who gather to do something useful and meaningful with friends.

We gather on many Friday mornings at Camp Monroe to engage in service projects and to enjoy the company of each other. Some of us know what we are doing, and others are not skilled. Some of us enjoy good health, and some of us have issues that keep us limited somewhat but we all have something we want to share.

We always enjoy meeting new people and getting to know each other better. If you are interested in doing something meaningful and enjoyable, come and visit with us. You may be inclined to join us and you will be welcomed.

A sampling of some of our past projects includes: removing pine straw from roofs, roof patching, tree and brush removal, storm damage cleanup, some electrical and plumbing work, building a hammock village, pier repair, pressure washing, stump removal, fence fixing, trail cutting, hole filling, wood staining and painting, small bridge repairs, screen repairs, old building removal and other such jobs that we can figure out how to do together. Sometimes we tackle one job that takes several Fridays of work to complete and other times we divide ourselves into smaller groups to tackle two or three small jobs all on one Friday. We work about three hours each time we gather. We get really grumpy after that.
