What is the interview process?

After we review your application, we will schedule a personal interview with our Executive Director or leadership staff. You can expect a decision within two weeks of your final interview

Do you perform background checks?

Background checks are completed on all applicants who are chosen to be on camp staff.

What does it mean to be on summer staff?

The main focus of Camp Monroe is to create an environment for campers to encounter Christ. Camp staff serve elementary, middle school, and high school students in various ways and invest in them. Create an exciting, engaging environment for God to speak to each camper. Are loving towards campers plus share Christ with them along the way. Are committed to the overall success of the camp program by working alongside other staff members to create a fantastic experience for the campers

Being on summer staff requires a high level of commitment and some personal sacrifices, yet yields immeasurable eternal benefits.

What are the requirements to work at Camp Monroe?
  • Attend staff training
  • Have a heart for ministry and a desire to be a servant leader
  • Be willing to work hard with a positive attitude
What are the responsibilities on being on summer staff?
  • Camp staff get to know each camper, listen to their heart, encourage them, and provide positive role models for them.
  • Lead campers through camp activities.
  • Consistently pray for individual campers, speakers, worship leaders, and staff, and for God to change lives.
  • Share Jesus Christ with campers and guide them through a salvation experience or lead them to a deeper commitment to Christ.
  • Stewardship of Camp Monroe’s resources through properly caring for and cleaning the facilities on a regular basis.
What happens during staff training?
  • Get to know each other and build relationships
  • Learn camp Bible study curriculum and tools for evangelism
  • Become familiar with the Camp Monroe team and facilities and connect with the mission of Camp Monroe
  • Receive job assignments and guided recreation training (lifeguard, belaying certification, safety protocols)
What specialized skills does Camp Monroe look for?
  • LIFEGUARD: Serve in the lifeguard rotation when scheduled during specific camps. Training will be provided by camp during staff training. You must work a minimum of 2 weeks during the summer season for camp to pay for the entirety of the course.
  • RECREATION: Receive training and assist in guided recreation, organized games, water sports, and various other recreation activities as assigned.
  • ADMINISTRATION: Help with administrative duties at camp such as camper check-in and organizing supplies.
  • SOUND/AV: Help with sound checks and set up stage lighting. Run sound and ProPresenter for worship.
  • BIBLE STUDY: Prepare lessons and teach God’s Word to an assigned group of campers. Themed lessons are presented, then creatively developed during training week using resources provided
  • WORSHIP: Lead and participate in worship in a variety of ways. Demonstrate an attitude of worship throughout the day while leading campers in daily activities.
  • PROGRAMMING: Help lead and guide campers through a series of skits throughout the camp week.
Do I need to commit my entire summer to work?


No, but we prefer to have Camp Staff commit to at least 6 weeks of the summer. We understand it is summer break for most and we will try to flexible with needed time off. Our Camp Directors can discuss this in more detail with you.
Additionally, Camp Monroe hosts church groups for camps and retreats year-round. During June and July, Camp Staff provide support for these group camps and retreats in areas of recreation and food service.

About Our Camp

Our camp is a vibrant, high-energy environment where young leaders grow personally and professionally. Staff members live, work, and play in a community built on teamwork, responsibility, and centered in Jesus Christ. We take pride in creating a positive and safe space for everyone—campers and staff alike.


Camp Dates & Schedules
  • Staff Training: May 23rd-June 6th
  • Camp Season: June 8th-Augest 16th
  • Days Off: Staff get off Friday after a staff meeting around 5:30pm, all day Saturday, and Sunday morning. Staff need to be back on camp for a staff meeting at 2pm.
  • Communication: Cell phone use is limited during working hours, but your child will have designated free time to call, text, or email.

Living Arrangements
  • Staff live in cabins with other team members or with campers, depending on their role.
  • Cabins are supervised and safe, with regular health and safety checks. All of the Cabins have AC units.
  • Your child will have access to laundry, showers, and basic amenities.
  • We have a staff lounge on site where staff can keep their personal belongings, and they can hang out (if off) away from campers.

Meals & Nutrition
  • All meals are provided, with vegetarian and allergy-friendly options available.
  • Staff can buy snacks and keep them in the staff lounge

Packing List for Staff

 Things that you will need for summer at Camp Monroe. You will have to move week to week based on assignment so keep that in mind when packing!
 

Clothes: Clothes can get ruined at camp, please don’t bring anything that you do not want to replace! We recommend at least one week of T-shirts and Shorts, Pajamas, running shoes, several pairs of Socks, one light Jacket or a Sweatshirt, one pair of Pants, a hat if you want one, and one nice outfit for church.

Specially outfits: One dark outfit; like black, dark gray, blue, and brown. At  Camp we do a Wacky Wednesday Dinner so you can bring crazy pattern clothes and fun colors. A neon outfit, think highlighter colors. 

Water items: You will be wet every day, so we recommend bringing at least 3 towels and 3 Bathing suits (for girls bring one piece or tankinis that cover your stomach and guys no Speedos). We will provide 1 towel. Sandals that have backs on them, like Crocs and Chacos.  Flip flops for showers.

Sleeping items: Camp will provide all of the basic items (sheets, blanket, sleeping bag, pillow, and pillowcase)

Items that you will use: A Bible, Water bottle, Bug spray Backpack, sunscreen (preferred spray), Flashlight or Headlamp, waterproof Watch (not an Apple Watch), Notebook, Pens, Highlighters, and Sunglasses.

Toiletries: We recommend buying a shower caddy to carry all of your personal care products such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, wash cloth, brush/comb, toothbrush toothpaste, and deodorant.

Church or going out clothes: We go to church every sunday, the church is more casual and going out on weekends if you would like to bring one or two outfits.

 *We have a Washer and Dryer on Camp that you can use, we provide detergent. What not to bring to Camp: Nice Jewelry, clothes you don’t want to get messed up, Mini Fridge, Tent, an Air Mattress, and Laptops if not needed for school.
